William Frank Ottinger, 73, of McDowell Road, passed away at his home on Sunday, November 1, 2015, following a period of declining health.
Bill was born in Greenfield, MA, January 15, 1942, son to the late Frank and Fanny (Maleski) Ottinger. He was raised and educated in Sunderland, MA, graduating from Frontier Regional High School in Hadley, MA, with the Class of 1959. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force in Pakistan and stateside with the NSA. He went on to college at University of Florida and received his Master's in Business Administration at Ohio University in Athens, OH. He started working for Ralston Purina in St. Johnsbury, VT and later in Richmond, VA and Circleville, OH; he then worked for Banner Die Tool & Stamping Co. in Columbus, OH, where he retired. Bill was an avid gardener and enjoyed taking the opportunity to make renovations in all the homes for his family. He moved to Danville in 1992 and loved the area, becoming involved in the community as a Lister.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Carol E. (O'Neil) Ottinger of Danville, VT, his sons: Michael and wife, Melissa, of Columbus, Eric and wife, Catherine, of Galena, OH.
He was pre-deceased by a twin brother, Robert Ottinger.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11AM, on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in St. Johnsbury, VT with reception to immediately follow.
Burial will be private and there will be no calling hours.
