William McBey

Danville, VT: William George McBey, age 86, of Calkins Camp Road, and formerly of Davenport, FL, died peacefully at his daughters home surrounded by his family and fur buddies Waylon and Cash on Tuesday, January 14, 2025.

William was born in Whitefield, NH, on June 21, 1938, son to the late William John and Eva (Nugent) McBey. He grew up in Gilman, VT, and worked for over 40 years at the Gilman Paper Mill, retiring in 1999, as the Tour Boss Supervisor. He married Gloria Ruth Stockwell on June 21, 1958, which was his birthday. They shared 55 years together at the time of her passing in 2013. They made their home in Waterford from 1984-2000, at which time they moved to Davenport, FL, logged over 80K miles in their RV across parts of the country and returned for 2 months each summer to Vermont. William worked part-time at Sugar Ridge Campground following his retirement at Gilman Paper and later at Deer Creek RV Resort in Davenport. He enjoyed vintage cars and antiques, going to flea markets, yard sales, watching football, and trips to Daytona Beach. He liked working on clocks, everything Snoopy, and loved spending time with his grand and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his son: Randy McBey and wife Deborah of Monroe, NH; daughter: Shelli Gadapee and husband Keith of Danville, VT; a sister: Gloria Simms of CA; 4 grandchildren: Rob McBey (April Barton), Jeramie McBey (Kim), Tyler Fontaine (Christina), and Brittany Terhune (Samuel); and 13 great-grandchildren: Hayden, Kailey, Lucy, Jacob, and Amelia Terhune, Bently and Lucas Fontaine, and Jaylin, Allison, Liam, Myles, Mattison, and Gabriella McBey.

He was predeceased by his wife: Gloria McBey; and a brother: Grant McBey

There will be no services at this time, a Graveside Service will be held at 11AM on June 21, 2025, at the Riverside Cemetery in South Lunenburg, VT.
