William Bonnell, Jr.

William Patrick Bonnell Jr. (Billy) recently of Lyndonville, Vt., after a period of failing health, passed away peacefully November 24, 2021 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center with his loving sister Robin and his niece Crystal by his side.

Billy was born in Brattleboro, Vermont on May 16, 1962 to the late Carolyn Clara and William Patrick Bonnell Sr. A devoted Seventh Day Adventist, Billy attended SDA church school and Brattleboro Union Highschool.

In Brattleboro, Billy was employed at Washburn Vaults, The Jolly Butcher Restaurant and The Baptist Home Assisted Living facility. In St. Johnsbury, Billy was employed by The Cleaner Globe dry cleaning service.

He married Tammy Smith, June 20, 2002 in St. Johnsbury, Vt.

Billy was a devoted and loving husband and stepfather. He was an exceptional son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to all who knew him. He had a wonderful sense of humor, was kind, generous and was always quick with a story. As a teenager one would see Billy cruising in his big blue car with friends listening to rock and roll music and sharing in good times.

An outdoors enthusiast, he enjoyed camping, hiking, swimming and biking. Fitness was important to Billy through diet and weightlifting along with his outdoor activities. One could count on Billy to play “Monster” with his niece and nephews.

Billy was predeceased by his wife, Tammy Smith Bonnell, on May 21, 2020.

Survivors include his stepfather German Lebron, his brothers Patrick Bonnell and Tony Lebron, his sisters Robin Bonnell and Heidi Lebron, his nephews Jimmy Bezanson and Nathan Cretelle as well as niece Crystal Bezanson. In addition, stepchildren Marrissa Morrissette, Johnathon Valley and Christina Valley along with several cousins and friends.

Billy loved animals particularly his dog Gideon, therefore, in lieu of flowers please donate to The Kingdom Animal Shelter, St. Johnsbury, Vt in Billy’s name.

To honor Billy, there will be a memorial hike on Wantastiquet Mountain this spring on May 14th, to scatter a portion of his ashes.

At Billy’s request, he will be buried at the family plot at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in St. Johnsbury, Vt. Graveside services will be announced at a later date.

The family would like to thank the attending staff at Dartmouth Hitchcock and Fresenius Kidney Care in St. Johnsbury for the support and medical attention they provided Billy.

We love you Billy and will miss you so very much.
