Wilfred Everett

March 2, 1940 — January 23, 2015

Wilfred 'Bill' Everett, of Steeple Place off Main St. in St. Johnsbury, passed away at home early Friday, Jan. 23, 2015 at the age of 74.
He was born in Norwalk, Connecticut on March 2, 1940, the only child of Wilfred and Rose (Lynch) Everett.
In Connecticut Bill principally taught mathematics, coached cross country, basketball, and baseball, and was dean of discipline. Upon coming to Vermont, Bill taught in the Newark and Danville school systems; he also coached basketball at Concord High School.
His children will remember him for his strong and protective ways. His work ethic was unparalleled; his door was literally open to anyone; he was good counselor/listener to many; he enjoyed a good practical joke.
Bill had a love for the water and spent many an hour canoeing all around the area. Many will remember his huge Old Town canoe perched on top of his little small compact. His preferred mode of transportation was his scooter (good gas mileage!).
Bill worked in the automotive and hardware departments at the Littleton Walmart. At the St. Johnsbury Country Club, he was the starter, often marshalled, and ran 'the skins' game. He will be remembered fondly there.
He is survived by three children: son William Everett of St. Johnsbury, son Christopher Everett of Michigan, and daughter Kathleen Everett also of Michigan; 6 grandchildren: Chris' four children Sarah, Emma, Patrick, and Jill; Kathleen's two children Brittany and Andy, and a great-grandson Gavin.
A celebration of his life is being planned at the St. Johnsbury Country Club for Saturday, May 16, from 2-4 p.m.
Memorial contributions could be directed to either: 'St. Johnsbury Country Club (marked for 'the youth program'), PO Box 116, St. Johnsbury VT 05819; or to the American Heart Association, 434 Hurricane Lane, Williston VT 05495.
