Walter J. Bandy, Sr.

December 28, 1947 — April 2, 2025

Sutton, VT

Walter J. Bandy, Sr., 77, of Sutton, passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully on April 2, 2025 at his home.

Walt was born in Lyndon Corner on December 28, 1947 to William and Edith (Allard) Bandy. He graduated from Lyndon Institute with the class of 1967 before beginning his career, most notably as a truck driver for Ethan Allen for 25 years. He married Elaine Barnett on September 9, 1967, sharing 57 happy years together before his passing.

Walt was known for his great love of the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He enjoyed golfing and could be found during his healthier years playing a round with his grandkids, or his neighbor and friend, Gary Lotspeich. He passed on many skills to his children by teaching them hunting, fishing, and a solid work ethic. He enjoyed life at his Sutton home, with his horses, sheep, dogs, and chickens. Above all, Walt loved his family and especially enjoyed visiting with his grandchildren.

He was very proud of all of his children's, and grandchildren's, accomplishments. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Walt is survived by his beloved wife, Elaine Bandy of Sutton; children Ann Marie (Rob Conn) Bickford of East Burke, Walter (Nancy) Bandy, Jr. of East Burke, Wayne (Tammy) Bandy of Sutton, and Margaret (Philip) Brown of Sutton; siblings Winston Bandy of Sutton and William Bandy of Moretown; In-laws Dennis Barnett of Ipswich, Mass, Dale Barnett of NYC, and Sandy Stetson (Scott) of Vail, AZ; grandchildren Cassandra Bickford (Zach), Joshua Faulkner (Liz), Walter Bandy III (Taylor), Matthew Bandy, Joseph Bandy, Micheal Bandy (Celine), Ryan Delabruere (Carrie), Tori Deos (Justin), Dallas Ball (Mercedes), Dakota Ball (Anna), and Devin Brown (Dom); great-grandchildren Bowden Hale, Lainey Hale, Piper Faulkner, James Deos, Adrian Deos, Maverick Ball, Scarlett Ball, and Philip Ball; as well as many extras, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by his parents and sister Carleta Legacy.

There will be no calling hours. A celebration of Walt’s life will be held at a later date.
