Virginia Hudson

October 8, 1942 — August 26, 2016

Ginger Hudson, 73, of Concord, VT., passed away at her home, on Friday, August 26, 2016, surrounded by her family, following more than a decade long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

She was born on October 8, 1942, in Springfield, VT. Ginger was a strong-willed, courageous woman who overcame the hardships of life with acceptance, a dry humor and a few cuss words.  She was energetic and fun-loving, always up for an adventure, whether it be snowmobiling, 4-wheeling, camping, or an annual trip to Fryeburg fair.  She was an amazing cook and seamstress.  She loved car races and gambling, but most of all- her sons and grandchildren.  Her family was her life, and she always wanted them involved in these adventures.   The “Grammy Ginny” stories are numerous, and the grandkids repeat them with admiration and fondness.  Her family most appreciated and loved her involvement in their day to day activities, no matter how big or small.  Beneath her hard exterior there was a heart of gold and a soft spot for the unfortunate.

Ginger was a hard worker, employed at a variety of local businesses, including Winterset Construction, EHV and Lydall, where she touched the lives of her co-workers.

Ginger was predeceased by her parents, Marion (Howard) and Edward James Wilson, and a brother, Bruce Wilson.  She is survived by her faithful and loving husband of 53 years, Ranson Hudson Sr., three sons: Ranson Jr., Eric and wife Jessi, and Spencer, eight grandchildren: Ranson III “Harvey”, Ashley, Josie, Erin, Wilder, Colton, Bailey, and Austynn Pearl.  She is also survived by siblings: Jim Wilson, Linda Silsby, and Sherri Sorrell, and many nieces and nephews, and a life-long friend, Alice Roberts.

Ginger was truly one-of-a-kind and will be remembered as a doting grandmother, a deeply involved mother, a loving and inspirational wife, and an exceptional friend.

Calling hours will be held from 5-8 pm Wednesday, August 31, 2016,  at the Sayles Funeral Home, 525 Summer Street, St. Johnsbury, VT. Burial & services will be a family affair, held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor her memory may donate to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-60111, 800.272.3900, www.alz.org, because this disease really sucks!
