Thelma Geraldine Nutting, age 96, formerly of Mt. Hunger, passed away at her residence in Passumpsic, surrounded by her beloved family, Christmas night, following a period of declining health.
Thelma was born and raised in Lyndon, VT on October 12, 1920, daughter to the late Andrew and Rosetta (Beck) Robinson. She married Ronald Nutting on June 14, 1943 and shared 42 years together when he passed in 1985. Thelma worked as a candy maker at Maple Grove in St. Johnsbury and after retiring worked part-time at Riverside School as secretary. In years past she liked going to the fairgrounds to watch the horse races and demo-derby. Thelma was a past member of the Lyndon First Congregational Church. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, knitting, crosswords and spending time with family; not often did she miss one of the grandkids sporting events.
She is survived by her son: Robert Nutting (Shirley) of Lyndon, 2 daughters: Linda Carslile of Hempstead, TX, Rhonda Boivin Kenney (Douglas) of Lyndon and Portsmouth, RI, sister: Doris Leach of Lyndon, sisters-in-law: Carol Robinson of Passumpsic, Dorothy “Pete” Blackdar of Passumpsic, son-in-law: Henry Edward Olcott of E. St. Johnsbury, 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was also predeceased by her son: Kenneth Nutting, 2 daughters: Florence McGill, Barbara Olcott, 2 brothers: Earl Robinson, Clayton Robinson, 3 sisters: Leis Sherburne, Evelyn Campbell, Emma Drown.
Funeral Services will be held at 10AM on Thursday, December 29 th , 2016 at the Guibord Funeral Home on the corner of Center and Main Streets in Lyndonville with Dot Robinson officiating. Friends may call on the family prior to services, from 9AM until the hours of the service. Burial will take place in the spring at 2PM on Friday May 12, 2017, at the Lyndon Center Cemetery.
