Susan Marchetti, 68, of Jay, Maine, passed away peacefully at her home on March 25, 2020 after a difficult struggle with ALS. Susan was born on October 3, 1951 to Joseph “Pip” Marchetti and Bernadette “Bunny” Marchetti. She graduated from Jay High School in 1969.
Susan worked for many years in accounting and media sales and retired in 2017 after a 20 year career at Spectrum Cable.
She enjoyed watching sports on TV, growing potted flowers, shopping, taking scenic drives and photographs, travelling, visiting casinos, and visiting her beloved grandsons in Vermont. Her friends and family will miss the dishcloths she knitted and handed out by the bagful, and the Chex mix she generously gave out every Christmas.
As it became evident that Susan had ALS, she moved to Vermont to be with her son Ryan and his family. Although it was hard for her to leave the home she had lived in her entire life, she was happy to spend the last few months of her life in the beautiful scenery of the nearby White Mountains, and thrilled to have her grandsons running in and out of her house and her family to care for her.
She is survived by her son, Ryan, daughter in law, Angela, and grandsons Sam and Gabe of Lunenburg, Vermont and by her brother, Vincent Marchetti of Jay, Maine and his family. She was predeceased by her parents and her longtime boyfriend, Dale Willits.
Ryan and Angela would like to thank the staff of Caledonia Home Health and Hospice for their support over the last few months. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Caledonia Home Health and Hospice, 161 Sherman Drive, St. Johnsbury, VT 05819.
A celebration of life will be held this summer in her hometown of Jay, Maine.
