Susan D. Haynie

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light” – Matthew 11:28-30

A sincere note from Kevin Haynie (Sue's husband) to our dear Sweet Seasons Customers:

Over the past 2 years, many of you have come into our farm store and asked ‘Where is Sue?’ - to which I responded that she was working behind the scenes and that she had hurt her leg. All of this was true but there is far more to the story than this.

The reality is that she was fighting a very rare form of cancer that started in her leg and ultimately metastasized to her lungs. It was truly devastating to her beautiful, strong, capable body that you all came to know and recognize. If you knew Sue, you knew that she was an intensely passionate, hardworking, people loving, beautiful woman of God – someone who faced a challenge with unrelenting resolve until the challenge was utterly conquered. She approached her health challenges in the same way. She fought this evil disease for 2 years and was comforted each step of the way from her friendship with Jesus.

Ultimately, she found rest for her soul in heaven. On Monday afternoon, July 29, 2024, she was ushered into the gates of heaven and into the gentle, loving embrace of her savior and Lord Jesus Christ – never to feel pain again – reunited with members of her family and our baby Benjamin. Praise the Lord!

I will miss her intensely. I will miss her friendly smile, her welcoming face, her encouraging words, her passion for life, and, of course, her delicious chocolates! I am sure you will too!

Sue has truly blessed all of us in this St Johnsbury community and all our Sweet Season’s Customers. Let’s celebrate all that she’s meant to us at Union Baptist Church.
