Sue Ann (Butler) Stuart of Monroe, NH passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at her home at the age of 80.

 Sue was born in Portland, ME, January 18, 1945, the daughter of the late Nathan (Jack) and Dorothy (Leavitt) Butler. In 1948, the family moved to East Corinth, VT where she attended elementary school. Sue graduated from Bradford Academy and attended Mary Hitchcock LPN School in 1963/64. 

 She married Patrick D. Huntoon on June 26, 1967 and raised their family in Lyndonville, VT. Sue held clerical positions at Equity Publishing, Ralston Purina, Fairbanks Scales, Common Ground, Aldrich Formica, and Moose River Publishing from 1965-2004. Sue was V.P. of the Lyndonville VALD chapter which she helped establish, Coordinator of the NEK chapter for Jobs, Peace, and Justice, and active in the Congregational Churches of E.Corinth, Bradford, and Lyndonville. For several years, she was a member of the church choirs and soloed at several events. She enjoyed skiing, golfing, swimming gardening, hunting, fishing, crafts, and spending time with friends and family. In later years, she loved feeding the birds, cooking, reading, gardening, taking photos, and visiting friends. Less known was Sue’s passion for quietly bringing a ray of sunshine into the lives of the elderly, or less fortunate with contributions, visits, cards gifts, food, and supplies for her local food shelves. She treasured her time with special friends, family and grandchildren, creating many beautiful memories. 

 Sue married Scott J. Stuart on December 9, 1989, and they resided in Monroe, NH.

 Survivors include her children: Tara Huntoon (Daren) Smith of Underhill, VT, and William P. Huntoon of S. Paris, ME; grandchildren: Leah Smith, William P. Huntoon, Jr, Joseph Marshall, and Alorah Richardson; great grandsons: Julian and Jordan Cutter, and Jaden and Jaren Gilbert; brother: Kenneth C. Butler of Greenwood, SC; sisters- and brothers-in-law: Sandra (Gordon) Ward of Monroe, NH, Shirley (Patrick) Gillander of Charlotte Court House, VA, Steven (Joanne) Fenoff of Danville, VT, and Kathy Fenoff of Danville, VT; daughter-in-law: Brenda Carr Huntoon; Sue’s former husband and good friend: Patrick D. Huntoon and wife Rose of Greenville, NC; uncles: Bernard W. Leavitt, Ken (Joan) Gammell, Roger (Sue) Gammell, and Victor Gammell; aunts: Helen Laberge, Sharon (Doug) Gilmour, and Connie Gammell. special cousins: The Longos and 5 Leavitt Girls; and several nieces and nephews too numerous to list.

 She was predeceased by her husband: Scott Stuart; her parents; her mother- and father-in-law: John and Lorraine Stuart; grandson: Cameron Smith; aunts: Beverly (Louis) Longo, and Nellie Louise (Paul) Nye who Sue thought of as her second mother; brother-in-law: Stanley Fenoff; uncles: Eugene (Helen) Leavitt, John, Bob, Dick, and Jim Gammell and Bob Laberge; special cousins: Joe Longo, Anne Leavitt, and Jeanie Leavitt.

Per Sue’s request, there will be no services.

 In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to SAD/SAC, c/o the Caledonian Record PO Box 8, St. Johnsbury VT 05819; NEK Youth Services, 63 Eastern Ave, St. Johnsbury VT 05819; or the food shelf of one’s choice.
