Stephen P. Jenkins, age 74, of Lyndonville, Vt., went home to be with his Lord Jesus, Friday evening, Dec. 4, 2015. He had resided at the St. Johnsbury Health and Rehab Center.
Stephen was born on March 24, 1941, in St. Johnsbury, Vt., son to the late Laurence W. and Ethel L. (Alger) Jenkins. He was raised and educated in Lyndonville graduating from Lyndon Institute in the Class of 1959. Steve served three years in the U.S. Army and another three years in the Reserve, spending much of his time in Korea and Germany. He worked as a machinist and tool maker for the Kennametal Tap & Die in Lyndonville and then moved to Indiana in 1978 where he worked for Uniform Hood Lace in Westfield, Ind., until his retirement following 25 years employment. Stephen was active in church in each place they lived, always volunteering to make the coffee. He returned to Lyndonville in 2004 with his wife, Marilyn F. (Chesley). He had always returned to the area each hunting season to join his brother. His other interests included bowling, skiing and football; he was a diehard Colts fan, "Go Colts!"
In addition to his wife, Marilyn, he is survived by his son: Nelson Jenkins and wife, Susie, of Dubuque, Iowa, his daughter: Laurie Jenkins of Indianapolis, Ind., four brothers: Lawrence "Larry" Jenkins and wife, Kay, of Texas, David Jenkins and wife, Carol, of Sarasota, Fla., Stanley Jenkins and wife, Brenda, of Georgia, Vt. and Wayne Jenkins of Indiana, four grandchildren: Jessica, Christian, Tyler and Stephanie and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 11, 2015, at the Lyndon Center Baptist Church, on College Road, in Lyndon Center with Rev. Jake Kocis officiating. Burial will be private and there will be no calling hours.
