Shirley Ann Rodgers, age 81, of St. Johnsbury Center, passed away at home surrounded by her beloved family on November 29, 2016, following a long battle with Alzheimers. She was a lifelong resident of St. Johnsbury Center.

Shirley was born in St. Johnsbury, VT, on April 18, 1935, daughter of the late Allen and Yvonne (Laferriere) Brigham.  She was raised and educated in St. Johnsbury.  In 1957, she married Walter Edward Rodgers, Jr. and began a nearly 60 year career as a homemaker, wife, mother, and a dedicated nanny to her 6 grandchildren.  She enjoyed bowling, baking and cooking, visiting Old Orchard Beach, being with her family, and hunting and fishing with Walter. Shirley loved to swim and downhill ski, spending every available weekend for 42 years at camp in Victory.

She is survived by her husband:  Walter E. Rodgers, Jr., of St. Johnsbury Center, her son:  Edward Rodgers (Kelly) of North Concord, VT, her daughters:  Patty Stetson (Jeffrey) of St. Johnsbury Center, VT, and Debra Jean Rodgers of Indian Land, SC, and her sister:  Rose Hill (Tom) of NC, 5 grandchildren:  Christen White (Jason) of SC, Kelly Lemieux (Justin) of St. Johnsbury, Jayme Rodgers (Nick Sline)  of North Concord, Jessica Chase (Ryan) of Concord, and Lizabeth Rodgers of North Concord, and 11 precious great grandchildren.

She is predeceased by a granddaughter:  Sarah Jean Leach

Friends may call on the family from 2:00PM- 4:00PM at Sayles Funeral Home, 525 Summer Street in St. Johnsbury on December 3, 2016.

Burial will be private in the springtime at the Grove Cemetery in East St. Johnsbury.
