Sarah Ryan

Westmore, VT: Sarah Alice Ryan died at the Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital , Thursday morning, November 2, 2023, following a recent decline; she was 84.

Sarah was born in Boston, MA, on November 22, 1938, daughter to the late Orenzo and Muriel (Magee) Wakefield.   She was raised in Barton, VT and Watertown, CT, graduating from Watertown High School in 1956.  She returned to Vermont in 1968 and worked in  the dermatology department at UVM.  In 1977 a move to St. Johnsbury came and she worked at Dr. Russell’s office and later went to St. Johnsbury Trucking until its close.  Her working career finished in Admissions of the Emergency Department at Littleton Regional Hospital.  Sarah was an avid reader, enjoyed watching the Miami Dolphins.  She met Dean Comstock and shared 19 years together at the time of his passing in 2019.  They wintered in Punta Gorda, FL for many years together; she loved the beach, whether it was in Florida or Maine.

She is survived by her 3 children: Greg Ryan (Cheryl) of Milton, VT, George Ryan (Valerie) of Burlington, Catherine “Cassie” Gammell (Marcel Lapierre) of Waterford, VT, her brother: Thomas Loomis (Jan) of Sutton, VT, 4 grandchildren: Robert Ryan (Julia), Andrew Ryan (Lisa), Ryan Gammell (Catherine), Scott Ryan, 5 great-grandchildren: Colby Gammell, Makenzie Sabens, Ava Sabens, Theodore Ryan, Oliver Ryan, her niece: Paige Loomis (Todd) and nephew: Time Loomis (Noel). 

She was also pre-deceased by her step-father: Allen Loomis.

There will be no Calling Hours or Services at this time.
