Sally J. Thompson, 61, of Lyndonville, VT, died on February 1, 2017 at St. Johnsbury Health and Rehabilitation Center following a long battle with Early Onset Alzheimer’s Disease.

Sally was born on August 18, 1955 in Troy, NY daughter to the late William H. and Jeanne (White) Atwater. She was raised in Stephentown, NY and was a graduate of New Lebanon Central School and Johnson State College in Vermont. She worked in finance, accounting and human resources administration during the course of her career from which she retired in 2008 due to her health.

Sally is survived by her loving husband: Duane B. Thompson of Lyndonville, VT; her beloved daughter: Heather Hamling of Raleigh, NC; her sister: Constance Atwater of Slingerlands, NY; her brother: David Atwater and wife, Eve, of Berlin, VT; her cherished grandchildren: Michael, Robbie, and Ella Hamling; her aunt: Nancy Wassenaar; her sister-in law: Linda Winot (Bill Hood) of Lyndonville; her nephew: Keith McKeon as well as many other nieces and nephews; sister-in-laws: Bonnie Lacaillade of Florida and Patricia Hubbard of Waterford; and many cousins and friends.

She was much loved and will be greatly missed.

There will be a memorial service in the spring at the Stephentown Federated Presbyterian Church in Stephentown, NY.  Burial will take place in May at the Grove Cemetery in East St. Johnsbury.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Sally’s name to the Caledonia Home Health Care Hospice, 161 Sherman Drive, St. Johnsbury, VT 05819.
