Ruth Dionne

Mrs. Ruth Dionne, formerly of St. Johnsbury, passed away on July 26, 2016 at the age of 87. She had been a resident at Maple Lane Nursing Home since the fall of 2012.

Ruth was born on November 19, 1928 in Barre, VT, the daughter of Walter and Leola (George) Cumming and was a 1946 graduate of Spaulding High School. She married Raymond Dionne of St. Johnsbury on June 4, 1955. Raymond predeceased her in 1994.

Ruth worked in the family business (Ray’s Welding) as the bookkeeper. At the same time she was busy raising their three children. She was always there for them and very involved in their activities. Her greatest joy came from being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She cherished the time she spent with them. She also enjoyed ceramics, knitting and crocheting.

Ruth is survived by three children: Allison (Wayne) Letourneau of Lakeland, FL and their 2 children; Benjamin (Caitlin), Brian (Katrina); Susan (Keith) Greenwood of Lyndonville, VT and their 2 children; Joe (Ashley) and Chris (Lyza); Michael (Maria) Dionne of Williston, VT; and their 2 children Alexandra and Natalie; Four great grandchildren; Adalynn, Myla, Andrew, and Nevaeh. She is also survived by one sister, Myrta Parker of Barre, VT and several nieces and nephews.

Ruth was predeceased by her parents, three sisters; Alice Baldwin, Carrie Ann Cumming and Leon Villa.

Visiting hours will be held at Sayles Funeral Home on Saturday, July 30 from 6-8 pm. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
