With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Ron Fielder, who left us on February 3,2025, in St. Johnsbury, VT. Born on April 15, 1943, to Floyd and Alberta Mae (Barber) of Moretown, VT, Ron’s journey began in Bristol, RI, while his mother resided with her parents and his father served in the military.
Ron was raised in Barre, VT, and graduated from Montpelier High School, where his yearbook fondly described him as “one of our taller and nicer-looking seniors—loves parties, girls, and good times.”
His passion for good times continued as he played guitar for popular Vermont bands, the Beach Combers and The Bel Aires. He married his first wife, Wendy Bigglestone Rodgers, with whom he raised three children. After their children reached adulthood, they relocated from Waterford to Florida.
Vermont called him back, and Ron married his second wife, Mickey Hornbeck. Residing in East St. Johnsbury, they generously adopted and cared for five foster children: Brian, Whitney, Gavin, Brooke, and Aaron. Ron cherished time spent with family, especially their memorable camping trips to Ocean Park, Maine.
He was predeceased by his parents, aunts, and uncles. Ron is survived by his wife Mickey Hornbeck; sons Christopher (Mel) of Pace, FL, and Mark (Ann) of Waterford; daughter Heather Hale (Rick) of Bradenton, FL; stepdaughter Caitlin Wallingford of St. Johnsbury; grandchildren Remington, Tanner, Niko, Brett, and Harvey; brother Richard (Marlene); and many nephews and cousins.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, February 8th, at the Elks Lodge on Western Ave in St. Johnsbury from 1 to 4 pm, where we will celebrate Ron’s life and the joy he brought to those around him.
