St. Johnsbury,VT: Ronald John Baldauf, 60, of 256 Caledonia Street in St. Johnsbury passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital.
Ron was born the youngest of six children in Steubenville, OH on January 29, 1958 to the late Leo B. and the late Margaret J. (Nicol) Baldauf. He was raised and educated in Follansbee, WV graduating from Brooke High School, Wellsburg, WV, Class of 1977. He went on to graduate magna cum laude from West Liberty State College in West Virginia. In 1980 he met and fell in love with Becky Aileen Bowman when she was just 16 years old. They were married three years later on April 16, 1983 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Follansbee. They set up house in Follansbee. Ron worked as an accountant for Wallace Padden & Co. in Steubenville, OH, until 2001 when the family moved to St. Johnsbury, Vermont for Ron’s job as an accountant with the State Treasurer's Department in Montpelier.
Ron's wife and children were 1st in his life. Spending time with them was his greatest joy. He was a very proud father of 4 children; Ron actively supported their dreams. For his children, he traveled near and far to art shows, musical and theatrical events, track & field meets, and of course football. He loved working with the Boy Scouts especially at the Victory Bog and the Haunted corn maze in North Danville. He enjoyed working in his yard, fishing, autumn drives, and looking for Monarch butterflies.
Ronald is survived by his loving wife of 35 years: Becky A. Bowman Baldauf of St. Johnsbury; four children: triplets - Veronica, Jeremy, Kirstin (Eleanor), and Lane all of St. Johnsbury; two brothers: David A. Baldauf and wife, Joyce, of Colliers, WV and Gregory S. Baldauf and wife, Brenda, of Follansbee, WV; two sisters: Catherine A. Baldauf Hawrus of Sonoma, CA, and Lois J. Baldauf Huggins of Follansbee, WV; a brother-in-law: Douglas Bowman and wife Karen, of Wheeling, WV; two sisters-in-law: Rossann (Bowman) Yovich and husband, Don, of Louisville, KY and Leigh Ann Gossett of Wheeling, WV; nieces and nephews: Connie Baldauf (Allan) Ware, Misty Baldauf (Brad) Kline, Danny (Annette) Baldauf, Theresa Kruger Morang, Brian Kruger, Mary Hawrus, Michelle Baldauf Lynn, Corey Jason Baldauf, Troy (Kristin) Baldauf, Chalon Huggins, Travis (Ann) Huggins, Shane Huggins, Scotty (Dawna) Baldauf, Brad (Candace) Baldauf, Jeffery (Becky) Baldauf, Shannon (Shawn) Baldauf, Brandon (Rachel) Baldauf, Carolyn Bowman (Chris) Farina, Alec (Carissa) Bowman, Charles (Gina) Bowman, Mary Bowman (Bob) McCracken, Sarah Bowman (Aaron) Robinson, Braden Yovich as well as several great and great-great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by the family cat Lilly.
He was predeceased by his brother: Leonard Eugene Baldauf; father-in-law: Nile A. "Mr. B" Bowman; mother-in-law: Eleanor Virginia Reeves "Mrs. B" Bowman; brother-in-law: Mark S. Hawrus; and Goddaughter/great niece: Pamela Ware.
Visiting hours will be held Monday, August 20, 2018, 2-4 PM and 6-8PM, at Sayles Funeral Home, 525 Summer Street in St. Johnsbury, VT.
Funeral Services will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 21, 2018, 1PM at Sayles Funeral Home. Burial will be private.
