Roland "Pete" Caron

October 28, 1933 — January 13, 2017

Roland “Pete” Caron, 83, of Old Center Road, St. Johnsbury, passed away quietly on Friday, January 13, 2017, to join his beloved wife of 55 years, Denise Angel, who predeceased him on August 29, 2016.

Pete was born in North Danville, VT, on October 28, 1933, the son of the late Amedee and Blandine Caron.  Pete grew up in the autobody trade with his father and brother, Normand, who worked at many local garages in St. Johnsbury.  Pete was drafted into the Navy in May of 1956 and obtained rank of 3rd Class Petty Officer where he served on the USS Otterstetter until October 1957.  In 1956 the family purchased their own garage and established Caron’s Auto Service, which continued until 1985.   On June 3, 1961, he married Denise Angel Dussault at the former Notre Dames des Victoires Church.  After his retirement from autobody, Pete enjoyed working in the woods, hunting, logging, and going to his camp in Island Pond.  Pete also had fond memories of his post retirement employment at Winterset.  Camp and family were very important to Pete and Denise and they enjoyed hosting many gatherings of friends and family over the years. Pete always enjoyed reminiscing about those times and especially his many hunting stories. Pete was larger than life in many ways and will be sadly missed by those who knew him.

He is survived by two daughters, Diane Caron; Suzanne Mudge and husband George, two grandchildren, Jacob Mudge; Deborah Boyle and husband Jason, two great grand-children; Shelby and David.  He is also survived by five very special brothers-in-law and their wives and families.  He was predeceased by his brother, Normand, on December 25, 2015.

The family will be celebrating his funeral privately.  In the spring there will be a graveside service to celebrate his life and all will be welcome to attend, tentatively May 18, at 2PM at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
