Rodger Legendre

Rodger Eugene Legendre, age 71, of Tampico Road in Danville, passed away at his home on Thursday, February 22, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.

Rodger was born on March 29, 1946, in St. Johnsbury, VT, to Theodore and Robella (Guertin) Legendre, the youngest of six children.  He was raised in Danville, where he lived for most of his life and was a proud US Army Veteran of the Vietnam War.  On September 28, 1968, Rodger married the love of his life, Joan Heath, and together they raised their three children, Tammi, Jennifer, and Teddy.  Family was everything to Rodger and he most enjoyed family dinners with his children and grandchildren.  He was always willing to drop whatever he was doing to help anyone who needed a hand.

Rodger worked his entire life as a mechanic to provide for his family and enjoyed coaching and officiating many basketball and softball games over the years.  Rodger enjoyed spending his afternoon puttering on his big boy toys. He was an avid hunter and always looked forward to hunting season with the guys at Camp Bottoms Up.

He is survived by his loving wife: Joan; his daughters: Tammi (Bill) Bailey, Jennifer Litz (Rob Morris), and his son: Ted (Betsy) Legendre; his nine grandchildren: Hilary and Tanner Bailey, Paige, Derrick, Jayson, and Hannah Litz, and Julia, Jackson, and Joshua Legendre; two brothers:  David (Sheila) Legendre and Francis (Diane) Legendre; a sister: Louise Lessard; two sisters-in-law: Judy (Michael) Parker, and Cheryl Heath (Marvin Withers); a brother-in-law: Roland (Shonna) Heath; several nieces and nephews; and his very best friends, his dogs: Max and Buster.

He is predeceased by his parents: Theodore and Robella Legendre; his in-laws: Roland and Betty Heath; his brother: Robert; his sister: Lorraine.

Calling hours will be on Saturday, February 24, 2018, 6-8pm at Sayles Funeral Home on Summer Street in St. Johnsbury, VT.

Services, officiated by Reverend Robert Sargent, will be held at the North Danville Baptist on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at 2pm.  An interment with military honors will be in the spring on May 27, 2018, 1pm at the Drew Kelsey Cemetery in North Danville.
