Robert Call, Sr. of Severance Hill Rd. in East St. Johnsbury died at NVRH Sunday, Sept. 13, 2015 at the age of 67.
He was born in St. Johnsbury, Vermont on Aug. 21, 1948, the son of Claude and Ruby (Kennison) Call. On April 14, 1967 he and Donna Thurston were married.
Known affectionately as 'Slick' and 'Boo', Bob attended St. Johnsbury Trade School and worked as a mechanic all his life. He worked on bridge construction for Rossi's for 20 years, was a heavy equipment mechanic for both Northern Equipment and Bill Clark Equipment in Lyndonville, and most recently worked for Paul's Farm Service in Concord. He was quite the perfectionist in everything thing he did, most notably his garden. He enjoyed racing, playing horseshoes, woodworking, and was very proud of his Abenaki heritage.
He is survived by five children: Diana Harrison and husband Holt of Whitefield NH, Angela Lee of St. Johnsbury, Robert A. Call Jr. and wife Lisa of Burke, Rubin Call and wife Karen of Concord, Russell Call of Littleton NH; 10 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and one on the way. Besides Donna he was predeceased by a brother Preston and sister Nancy.
Friends and family will gather at the Sayles Funeral Home this Friday, Sept. 18 from 6-8PM. The following day there will be a cookout Saturday at 1 p.m. at Bob's Severance Hill home. Anyone wishing to attend is welcome.
