Robert “Bob” Blaney, 74, of St. Johnsbury died peacefully on March 28, 2024, at St. Johnsbury Health and Rehabilitation.
Bob was born on May 29, 1949 to Elwin and Emma (Magoni) Blaney. He moved to St. Johnsbury at an early age, attending the St. Johnsbury Trade School before entering the United States Marine Corps in 1971. Bob called his service, which took him as far away as the Philippines, the proudest moments of his life. After receiving an honorable discharge in 1977, Bob went on to work in the St. Johnsbury area as a roofer with various roofing companies.
Outside of his work, Bob enjoyed his family, often known for coming on holidays and spoiling his nieces, nephew, and eventually grandnieces. Always known as Bobby by his little sister Carol, he was known for his loyalty toward the New England Patriots (until Tom Brady left) and Boston Red Sox, his love of being outdoors, and his enjoyment of everything about John Wayne and everything written by Louis L’Amour.
In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his sister Audrey and her husband James Virge, as well as brother-in-law Richard Morey.
Bob is survived by his sister Carol Morey; niece Crystal (Chet) Buck; nephew Larry Virge; grandnieces Miranda Buck, Britani (Hunter) Buck, and Kelsi Buck; as well as several cousins, long-time friend Dale Gilman, and roommate of eight years Michael Patoine.
Friends may call on the family from 5-7PM Wednesday April 3, 2024 at the Sayles Funeral Home, 525 Summer Street in St. Johnsbury.
A Graveside Service will be held on Bob’s birthday, May 29, 2024, 1:00PM, at Maple Street Cemetery in Bethlehem, NH.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation in Bob’s memory be made to your favorite charity.
