Richard L. Migalti Sr., 78, of Danville, Vermont, formerly of Middlebury, CT, died Wednesday November 16, 2016 at Dartmouth Hospital from health complications. His family was by his side throughout his illness and during his passing.
Richard was born in Waterbury, CT, on April 4, 1938, son of Louis and Florence (Ciasullo) Migalti, Jr. After graduating from Crosby High School in Waterbury he joined the Army Reserve for 8 years. He worked for Eyelet Specialty Co. in Wallingford, CT and retired from the Woodbury School System in Woodbury, CT.
Since he was age 18, Richard's dream was to move to Vermont, which he did in his retirement. Dear to his heart were all things Vermont, the outdoors, hunting & fishing, his camp in Corinth, VT, Journeys End, his dog Luke and precious wife. A devoted husband and father, he loved his family more than anything.
Richard is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marie Elizabeth “Betty” (Sacco) Migalti, his two daughters Gael Migalti-Hanna and her husband Steven Hanna of Barre, Vt., and Linda Migalti and her partner Robert Peotter of Litchfield, CT; sister Joan and her husband Frank Aurio of Waterbury, CT; brother-in-law Ronald Sacco and his wife Sandra of S. Dartmouth, MA. He is also survived by a step granddaughter Calista Hanna, and nephews and nieces, Michael Aurio, Sandra Aurio, Lois and her husband Phil Colella, Brian Sacco, Tina and her husband Tom Steen, Tammy Fecteau, Stephanie Colella and Jennifer Colella, Ryan Steen, Corey Steen, Kayla Heelan.
He is predeceased by his parents Louis Jr. and Florence Migalti, his beloved infant sons Richard Louis Jr. and Paul Richard, and nephews Anthony James Sacco and Tyler Steen.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Danville. There will be no calling hours. Burial will take place at a later date.
