Richard H. Johnson, Sr.

Sutton, VT: Richard H. Johnson, Sr., age 87, of Wheelock Road, passed on Monday, December 18, 2023, at his home after a decline in health.

Richard was born in Sutton, VT, on October 18, 1936, son to the late Harold and Wilma (Allard) Johnson.  On June 19, 1956, he married Clara Ann Willey. He was a strong, hardworking man with many years of logging experience.  He enjoyed rides on back country roads and visits to other log landings, hunting, participating in chainsaw races at local field days and reading, mostly westerns.

He is survived by 5 children: Richard H, Johnson, Jr., (Lesa) of Sutton, Clara Davis (Tim) of Stark, NH, Brenda Tanner (Bob) of Stark, NH, Jean M. Corrow (Scott Holmes) of S. Wheelock, VT, Joan J. Squires (Dan) of Sutton, 1 brother: Ralph Johnson (Dolly) of West Burke, VT, a sister: Ruth Ann Hamel (Robert) of Lyndon, VT, 4 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 

He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Clara Ann (Willey) in 2019, his son, Jeffrey S. Johnson, in 2020 and his grandson, Anthony R. Corrow, in 2019.

There will be no Calling Hours.   A Celebration of Life will be held at the Lyndonville VFW on Hill Street on January 27, 2024 from 1-4PM.
