Richard E. Houghton, age70, of St. Johnsbury, passed away at the St. Johnsbury Health & Rehabilitation Center Tuesday evening, January 12, 2016, following a period of declining health.
Richard was born in Barre, VT, on September 18, 1945, son to Muriel (Jerome) Houghton and the late Cedric Roland Houghton. He was raised and educated in St. Johnsbury graduating from the Academy with the Class of 1966. He married the former Pamela D. Lyndes and shared 21 years together until her passing in 2006. Richard was employed as an assembler with Burndy Manufacturing until his retirement. He went on to work as a security guard with Deter and later as a greeter in Littleton at Walmart.
Survivors include his mother, Muriel, of St. Johnsbury, his brother: Leroy Houghton and wife, Sylvia, of St. Johnsbury, his nieces: Kristi Houghton (Todd LaBounty) of Lyndonville, Nikki Arnold (Jason) and their son, Logan, of Madisonville, KY.
The family would like to express their thanks for the wonderful care he received at the St. Johnsbury Health & Rehabilitation Center from all the staff.
Burial services will be held privately for the family in the springtime at the Cabot Cemetery in Cabot, VT.
