Raymond Guyer

April 17, 1934 — July 30, 2017

Raymond “Ray” Richard Guyer, age 83, of Cotton Road, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home on Sunday, July 30, 2017.

Ray was born in St. Johnsbury, VT, on April 17, 1934, son to the late Alfred Allen and Leta Marie (Warren) Guyer.  He grew up in St. Johnsbury and graduated from St. Johnsbury Trade School in 1954.  From 1948-54 Ray worked on the Carl Lawrence Farm in E. St. Johnsbury and attended Vermont Technical School Agricultural program the following year.  He joined the U.S. Army in 1956 where he was stationed in Germany and Beirut and honorably discharged in 1958. After returning he married the former Marilyn Ann Crosier on July 7, 1959, making their home in Lyndon.  He found employment at the Fairbanks Foundry for 14 years and also during that time until 1972, he did maintenance for the South Wheelock Church, worked for the Town of Lyndon and later for True Temper in the early 70’s. In 1972 the family moved to Nashua and later Litchfield, NH where Ray worked Triangle Pacific Cabinet Corporation. Ray was a very hard worker and at times held three jobs simultaneously to allow Marilyn to stay home for the kids and family members in need.  Over the years he was a member of the Lyndon Corner Grange, worked on and donated at many Red Cross blood drives and was a Deacon in at the S. Wheelock Church.  He built his home in Lyndon after retiring in 1997, enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting and loved desserts! In 2002 he took Marilyn on a six month trip through the U.S. and Canada up to Alaska that left them both with many, many wonderful memories.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Marilyn, of Lyndon, his two daughters: Pamela Vance and husband, Donald, of Lyndonville, Rosemary Kinerson and husband, Ronald, of Sheffield, a sister: JoAnn Messier and husband, Bruce, of Dayton, OH, 1 granddaughter: Amanda Vance O’Meara and husband, Jeffrey, and a great-grandson: Winn O’Meara and several nieces and nephews.
