Raymond Deth, 76, of East Burke, VT passed away March 6, 2018 at Maple Lane Nursing Home in Barton, VT. He was born May 15, 1941 to Kenneth and Violet (Breevort) Deth.
Raymond was a hard worker. He started working at the age of 9 on a farm. He had worked as a mechanic for several years until diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2009. He worked for Old Fox, JA McDonald, West Burke Mill and Calkins Sand & Gravel. He worked for Alfred Cross on the weekends. When he was younger he would milk cows for his Uncle Wallace and Aunt Marge. He loved being at the farm. Ray was one of the best mechanics around- people would call him up and tell them over the phone what the noise was and he knew right away what the problem was without looking at it.
He married his sweetheart Ruth (Austin) Deth Sept. 30, 1966 and they were married for 51 years. Raymond loved his children and grandchildren very much. He loved woodworking as a hobby and also enjoyed growing and working in his vegetable garden every summer. He always had a twinkle in his eye and a smile on his face making you wonder what he was up to next. He liked to joke around too.
Raymond is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ruth (Austin) Deth of East Burke, VT: his children, Darren (Christine) Deth of Lewiston, ME, Lisa Deth of East Burke, VT, Kim Deth of East Burke, VT: his grandchildren, Brandon and Emily Deth of East Burke, VT, Briaunna and Joshua Fontaine-Deth of Claremont, NH: his four brothers, Kenneth Deth, Jr. of West Burke, VT, Walter (Shirley) Deth of Morgan, VT, David Deth of East Haven, VT and Rupert (Lori) Deth of Sutton, VT: his previous daughter-in-law, Kelly Fontaine of Claremont, NH and previous son-in-law Clinton Matthewson of Sutton, VT: his two sisters, Roberta Hinton of Sutton, VT and Jeanette (Russell) Poor of Merrimac, MA and his step-mother, Elaine Deth of East Haven, VT: several nieces and nephews: his Uncle Reg (Gloria) Deth and Aunt Marjorie Deth.
