Raymond Cloutier

May 23, 1928 — November 10, 2017

St. Johnsbury, VT: Raymond “The Farm Boy" Cloutier, of St. Johnsbury died November 10, 2017 at NVRH following a short illness.

Raymond was born in Barton, VT on May 23, 1928 to Romeo and Lucia (Frechette) Cloutier. The oldest of five children, he lost his mother when he was 11-years-old. After high school he joined the service and upon discharge attended UVM. He then met Solange (Sally) Laramee of North Troy and they wed in May of 1952.

After their marriage his work career brought them to Berlin, NH, (Brown Paper and the Costello Hotel), Montpelier, VT (The Pavilion Hotel) and finally St. Johnsbury where he and Sally were well known for their great food at The Farm Boy Restaurant including fried chicken, soups, chicken pie and onion rings. Ray was always so amazed over the last twenty years how many people recognized him and spoke of how much they missed The Farm Boy. After retirement Ray and Sally spent their winters in Florida at their home in The Villages enjoying golf, square dancing, bowling and the sunshine and summers at Crystal Lake until Sally's death in 2005. They are now together again. After that Raymond continued to make batches of his soups for the family as well as "Farm Boy homemade bread", pork pies and his famous onion rings at the Relay for Life. He also stayed busy with his projects, helping out his kids and attending Cardiac Rehab where he made some good friends.

Raymond leaves behind his children, grandchildren and families, David and wife Kathy (Jared and Miranda, Nate and Vicki), Gary (Jason and Nichole), Diane Pierce and husband Eric (Darren and Brooke, Erika and Rene), Chris (Dillon and Carson), John and his wife Rachel (Kirsten and Cameron) as well as 17 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his brothers Norman and Richard and sisters Yvette and Pauline (Orleans) and their families as well as Sally's two remaining sisters Fern and Collette and many nieces and nephews in the North Troy area.
