Died on Tuesday, 1 November 2022, in St. Johnsbury, of complications from Parkinson’s, Pierre Harty Berube of this town. He leaves his beloved wife Felisa Lucido and his brother Jean Marc Bérubé (Linda Coates) of Montréal. He was predeceased by his parents Harty S. Bérubé and Yolande Tremblay Bérubé and his first wife Lorraine Zuccaro, sister to Edward R. Zuccaro of St. Johnsbury. Pierre was born in Noranda, Québec on 28 April 1942.
He graduated in 1961 from St. Francis-Xavier University in Nova Scotia and then transferred to MIT (his father was a 1932 alumnus). Upon graduation as a civil engineer in 1964, he enlisted in the US Army for three years and was posted in Liberia and then at the CRREL lab in Hanover, NH. Pierre was honorably discharged with the rank of Sp5 and obtained his US citizenship on 9 May 1967, the proudest day of his life.
Visitation will be from 14:00 to 16:00 hours and 18:00 to 20:00 hours on Monday 7 November 2022 at the Sayles Funeral Home in St. Johnsbury. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. John’s Church on Tuesday 8 November 2022 at 10:00 hours. Burial will be in Ryegate and reserved to family only.
