Pauline Potter

St. Johnsbury, VT: Pauline Helen (Kidder) Potter, formerly of Parker Ave in St. Johnsbury, passed away at her daughter’s home in Danville, VT, on Sunday, January, 7, 2018, following a long period of declining health.

Pauline was born on March 2, 1920, in Burlington, VT, daughter to the late George L. and Ruby (Drown) Kidder. She was raised and educated in Waterbury attending Waterbury Center School and later her family came to St. Johnsbury where she graduated high school from St. Johnsbury Academy in the Class of 1940 and married Roy Glenn Potter on June 25, 1938 sharing 68 years together at the time of his death on February 15, 2006.  They made their home and raised their son and two daughters in St. Johnsbury where she worked at Glovers and at Ames Department Store as a manager in the shoe department.  Pauline was a people person and kept very active in the community.  She was a longtime member of Grace United Methodist Church and of the Women’s Circle there, the Order of the Eastern Star Aida Chapter where she was a past Matron, Women’s Relief Corp #1and served as President, Green Mountain Grange #1, Pythian Sisters in Danville, VT, and the Rebekahs.  She volunteered at the St. Johnsbury Visitor’s Center and Lifeline, loved Bingo, Bowling and Square Dancing. Pauline loved holidays and birthdays and made the best popcorn balls, gravy, chocolate chip cookies, and apple pie. Her family was the most important thing in her life.

She is survived by her daughters: Betty Weston of Danville, Glynda Rosebrook and husband, Edward, of Lancaster, NH, her daughter-in-law: Geraldine Potter of Manchester, NH, her brother-in-law: Charles Smith of Las Vegas, NV, 11 grandchildren: Susan Laliberte (Mark), Sharon Weston, Sheila Weston (Muzzie Boufard), Shelly Marquise (Dennis), Alan Cormier (Nikki), Dana Cormier, Deborah Ruggeri, Laurie Armstrong (Tom), Randy Potter, Diane Vaccarello (Joe), Pauline Swiger (Eric), 16 great-grandchildren, 6 Great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Pauline was predeceased by her husband: Roy Potter, her son: Robert Glenn Potter, a brother: Benjamin Kidder and sister: Martha Doris Smith.

A Graveside Service will be held in the summertime at the convenience of the family at the Pleasant View Cemetery in Barnet.
