Pauline Hawkins

October 1, 1917 — June 16, 2016

Pauline Hawkins of St. Johnsbury passed away Thursday evening, June 16, 2016 at home with family by her side.

She was born in St. Johnsbury on Oct. 1, 1917, the daughter of Thomas H. Williams, Sr. and Laura (LaChance) Williams.  Her husband, T. Curtis Hawkins, passed away in 1972, son Paul Hawkins in 2007, grandson Greg LeBlanc in 2004.

Pauline enjoyed having morning coffee with friends.  She especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow.  She was a longtime parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Church.  Pauline was vibrant right up to a week ago and loved life.  Her family reflects “She was our best teacher, she taught us how to live, and she even taught us how to die”.

She is survived by three of her four children:  Marvourine LeBlanc of St. Johnsbury, Roger Hawkins of Clearwater, Florida, David Hawkins and wife Jeannine of St. Johnsbury; her dear friend for the past 41 years, Romeo Garand; ten grandchildren: Marvourine’s two children Thomas and Bryan, Roger’s four children Colleen, Patrick, Julie, and Sarah; David’s two children Angela and Aaron, Paul’s two children Paula and Marla; all her great-grandchildren; even 3 great-great-grandchildren; a sister Aline Trask of Randolph, sister-in-law Jacqueline Williams of St. Johnsbury; nieces and nephews.

Pauline was also predeceased by her two brothers, Thomas Jr. and Raymond Williams, two sisters Beatrice Liberty and Lucille McGinnis, and an infant brother Leonard.

A mass will be celebrated Wednesday, June 22 at 11 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church.  Committal services will follow at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.  There will be no visiting hours.
