Paul Belknap

Paul Wesley Belknap, age 78, of Hudson Road in Waterford, VT, passed away at his home on Tuesday, February 20, 2018, after a period of declining health.

Paul was born on July 22, 1939, in Barnet, VT, to Perley H. and Gladys A. (Morrill) Belknap. He was raised in Passumpsic, VT. For 25 years, he worked as a machinist at North Eastern Tool and Tap & Die.  On July 17, 1965, he married Bernadine Mae Harbaugh. They have enjoyed 52 years together, the last 35 years in Waterford.  Paul spent over 20 years working with St. Johnsbury baseball including Little League and Babe Ruth and coached basketball in Waterford for many years.

Paul liked hunting and fishing, baseball and softball. He was a major fan of the Red Sox, the Celtics, and Duke.  He enjoyed camping with family at Roger’s Campground in Lancaster, NH. His great love was racing the Coupes at Northeastern Speedway in Waterford.

Paul is survived by his wife: Bernadine Belknap of Waterford, VT; two sons: Eric Belknap and Felicia of Waterford, VT, and Calvin Belknap and Alisa of Arden, NC; 6 brothers: Billy and Pete of Pearland, TX, Brian of Gloversville, NY, Jimmy of Johnstown, NY, Jack of Ft. Johnson, NY, and Phil of Killeen, TX; three sisters: Karen Hartlieb of Canajoharie, NY, Heidi Ambrosino of Mayfield, NY, and Mary Ellen Terry of Sheldon, TX; 6 grandchildren: Morgan and T.J. Belknap, Taylor Johnson, and Lauren, Christian, and Taylor Belknap; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by a son: Jeffrey Belknap; two brothers: Dennis and Robert Belknap; and a sister: Jill Eads.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 23, 2018, 4-7pm at Sayles Funeral Home , 525 Summer Street in St. Johnsbury, VT.  A prayer service officiated by John Sleeper will immediately follow at 7pm.

Burial will be in the spring on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at 12 noon at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
