Owen 'Turtle' Mercon

Owen Paul Mercon, 67, of Danville, VT passed away at his home on Tuesday, February 21, 2023.

Known as Turtle by most, Owen was born in Worcester, MA on July 19, 1955, to Paul and Evelyn “Pat” (Laroche) Mercon.

Turtle was most well known as the voice behind the North Country Trader radio swap show as well as his time on the reality show Down East Dickering.  He loved fishing, gunsmithing and would surround himself with all things motorcycle.  His love of reading contributed to his being “super smart.”  Turtle had great stories that were often a little outlandish, but nearly always had a nugget or two of truth in them, and always carried a useful lesson.

Survivors include his children, sons: Steven and wife Melissa of Warren, MA, Roy and wife Sheila of St. Albans, VT, Christopher and wife Julia of St. Johnsbury, VT, and Mark; daughters: Heather Jones and husband Jason, and Heidi Lucier and husband Brian, all of Massachusetts; his sisters: Melissa Mercon-Smith and Diane Mercon-Griffin; and many grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife of 33 years: Teri Mercon, and his brothers: Steven and Jeff.

At Owen’s request, there will be no services.
