Natalie E. Johnson, 81, of 494 Lapierre Drive in St. Johnsbury passed away at her home with her devoted seeing eye dog, Gabbie, and her cat by her side last week. She was born on April 28, 1942 in Gardner, MA to Rudolph E. Johnson and Hildur E. Anderson. She graduated from Narragansett Regional High School in Templeton, MA in 1960 and earned her BA Degree from Clark University in 1964. She earned an MA in counseling from San Francisco State College in 1970.
She lived and worked in CA for a short time then moved to VT in the early 1970’s. She ran the St. Johnsbury Answering Service from her office on Eastern Avenue, where she provided phone answering services for businesses in the area. Her voice was always friendly and cheerful which was a great service for local businesses before the technology of voicemail. She also did transcription work for local doctors and lawyers. She worked as a microfilm transcriber at EHV Weidmann in the late 80s and early 90s. She was a horse enthusiast and had several horses over the years. Natalie lived in Danville for several years then moved to her home in St. Johnsbury in 1988.
Natalie was predeceased by her mother Hildur in 1970, her father Rudolph in 1980, and her brother Scott in 1996.
A memorial service will be conducted at Sayles Funeral Home at 525 Summer Street in St. Johnsbury on Oct. 5, at 10:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Natalie’s name may be made to the Vermont Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired, 60 Kimball Ave., So. Burlington, VT 05403.
