Muriel A. Dangel, 90, of Lyndon, VT passed away on Monday, June 5, 2023, at St. Johnsbury Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Muriel was born in Saginaw, MI on April 24, 1933, to John and Lillian (Klich) Swiss. She graduated from Saginaw High School, Class of 1951. In 1953, Muriel married Thomas George Dangel, also of Saginaw. The couple shared almost 70 years of marriage until Thomas’ death in August of 2022. Muriel worked in the Pentagon while Thomas was in the Army stationed in Washington, DC. She also worked as a secretary for Standard Oil of Michigan. Her primary occupation was as a homemaker for her husband and two children. In 1969, the family moved to Vermont.
Muriel enjoyed golfing during the summer months but her true interest was skiing. She learned to ski on the small mountains of northern Michigan in 1965. Eventually being able to ski most of the major resorts in the United States, Canada, Austria, Germany and Italy. She loved Christmas as it was another opportunity to teach younger nieces and nephews to ski. Muriel also enjoyed camping with her family throughout her life and into the 2000s.
Survivors include her children: Robert Dangel and wife Susan of Wheelock, Laura Shaw and partner Paul Miller of Woodbury, and a sister: Audrey McInerney and her husband Brian of Swansboro, NC.
