Milly Whitney of St. Johnsbury passed away Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015 at the age of 92. She had resided at the St. Johnsbury Health & Rehab Center since Feb. of 2008.
She was born in St. Johnsbury on May 1, 1923, the daughter of George and Ienze (Libbey) Lenton. She graduated from Lyndon Institute with the class of 1941.
For sixteen years Milly worked at St. Johnsbury Trucking Co. She especially loved her last job selling tickets at The Star Theatre. She was the treasurer at the VFW Auxiliary for years and years.
She is survived by all eight of her children: George Whitney and his wife Ruby of Hardwick, Ruth Marceau and husband Glendon of Peacham, Bryce Whitney and wife Marion of Hyde Park, Russell Whitney and wife Helen of No. Andover, Massachusetts, Debbie Ruggles and husband Roland of Lyndonville, Patti Hatch of Groton, Nikki Young and husband Ronald of St. Johnsbury, Wendi Willson and husband Dennis of North Concord; sister Caroline Tobin of Goffstown, New Hampshire; 20 of her 21 grandchildren and their extended families. She was predeceased by a grandson Michael Hatch, Jr., brother Robert Lenton and his wife Lorraine, and a brother-in-law Howard Tobin.
The family will observe their services privately.
