Michael " Sonny" Frank Koolis

1942 - 2024 

Michael "Sonny" Frank Koolis, 82 of Newark, VT formerly of Stratton, VT and Fairfield, CT passed away December 31, 2024, at home with his daughter by his side. 

Born in Bridgeport, CT on September 19, 1942, he was the son of the late Michael and Mary (Kurimai) Koolis. He attended Roger Ludlowe High School in Fairfield, CT. After high school he served in the United States Air Force where he was a welder by trade. He retired from the Town of Fairfield in 2004 and settled in Stratton until moving to East Burke/Newark in 2011. He enjoyed weekends in Vermont hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include his daughter: Karen, son-in-law: Bud, granddaughter: Gianna, Grandson Hunter, nieces, nephews, cousins and Emma, the best caregiver anyone could have.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 56 years: Joanne B. (Volpe) Koolis and predeceased by his sister Joan M. Reinhardt of Jacksonville, FL.

There will be no services at this time and burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
