Michael Walter Entriken, 59, of Walden, VT passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at his home.
Michael was born on October 11, 1956, in Philadelphia, PA, to the late Walter and Dolores (Laub) Entriken and moved to Vermont in 1970 where he attended Cabot High School and worked with his family's business-Rama Enamels. Michael founded his own business-Green Mountain Enamel Works-and travelled to craft shows throughout the Northeast for over 40 years. He was a lifetime member of the Vermont Hand Crafters.
Michael spent 20 years with Northeast Kingdom Human Services as a community integration specialist, providing care for developmentally challenged individuals and forging many long- term friendships.
Outside of work, Michael enjoyed snowmobiling, feeding the birds, checking his pasture fences and his annual trip with his wife to Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.
Michael is survived by his wife Carol Entriken and his stepchildren Molly Sutter and her husband Tom of White Plains, NY; Jacob O'Brien and his long time care provider Greg Bryant of Glover, VT; and Luke O'Brien and his wife Kerry of Newark, VT. Michael cherished his role as "Pop Pop" to his three grandchildren Thomas and Zelda Sutter of White Plains NY and Riley O'Brien of Newark, VT.
Calling hours will be held Friday, January 15, 2016 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Sayles Funeral Home at 525 Summer St., St. Johnsbury.
A celebration of Michael's life will be held in the springtime at a date to be announced.
