East Burke, VT: Melynda J. Miller, age 49, of Route 114, died peacefully on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at her home surrounded by her beloved family as they kept vigil.
Melynda was a twin, born on January 14, 1974, daughter to Larry Sargent, Sr. and the late Elaine (Chamberlain) Sargent who died in 2022. Melynda grew up in East Burke and graduated from Lyndon Institute in the Class of 1992. A year later she and Herbert A. Miller, Jr. took their vows on July 30th , and have made their home in the same town where she was raised. Melynda (and her sister, Melyssa) began working at Union Bank and she rose to the position of Vice President, Residential Lender in the St. Johnsbury Branch where she had been for 27 ½ years.
Melynda led a very active life, from almost daily fitness trips to XIP, mountain biking, mud runs, hockey (with Saturday & Wednesday hockey crews), paddleboarding in Maine, camping trips- both near and far and hunting in Sheffield. She was an adventurer willing to try anything and also enjoyed Demo Derby Days, (watching the boys prepare their cars and taking them for a test drive) sugaring, bingo and nail days. She was currently the President of The Northeast Kingdom Vermont Chamber of Commerce. Melynda was also recognized as the Top Originator for VHFA in 2022 for Northern Vermont for mortgages.
Melynda leaves her beloved husband, Herb Miller, Jr., her 3 children: Dylan Miller (Allie Beliveau), Logan Miller, Lilyan Miller, her father: Larry Sargent, Sr. (Teresa Corrow), , her sister: Melyssa Whitcomb (Eddie) all of East Burke, her 2 brothers: Larry Sargent, Jr. (Karen Sjolander) of Lyndonville, Eric Sargent (Danielle Pelow) of St. Johnsbury, nieces & nephews: Deryck Colburn (Katelyn Burgess), Parker Whitcomb, Katelyn Declet (Francisco), Griffin & Ella Sargent and especially her Black Lab: Layci May, her paternal grandmother: Thelma Tower, her father-in-law: Herbert Miller, Sr. of Burke and many aunts, uncles, cousins and many close friends.
She is also predeceased by her maternal Grandparents: Sidney & Barbara Chamberlain, Paternal grandfather: David Tower and grandparents: Arthur & Arlene Miller.
Friends may call on the family from 5-8PM, Thursday, January 11, 2024, at the Guibord-Pearsons Funeral Home, 15 Main Street in Lyndonville. There will be no services or burial at this time. The family will be doing a Celebration of Life at a later date to be determined.
