Matthew Flood, 34, of Walden, passed away suddenly on September 16, 2024, in a motor vehicle accident.
Matt was known to those who loved him as a happy, go-lucky man who was dedicated to his family. He lived his entire life in Plainfield and Walden and enjoyed everything that northern Vermont had to offer with Woodbury Mountain being one of his favorites. His love of hunting, fishing, and being outdoors is something he passed on to his children. He made a living as a logger and knew how to fix just about anything. Though he could be stubborn and dead set in his ways, Matt knew what was important and was willing to give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.
Recently, Matt found the love of his life in Emily Foster, accepting her three children as his own in addition to his three children. His laugh was infectious, and he would make others laugh through his antics like composing new lyrics to Emily’s favorite songs. He and Emily found joy recently in starting a farm in Walden. His family was most important to him, and they will miss him the most.
Matt is survived by the love of his life, Emily Foster; children Eliza, Aleah, Matthew, Jr., Coltin, Mia, and Sage; sisters Amanda Laird and Serina Flood; nieces and nephews Austin, Tae, and Sophie Anderson; good friends Mikey Austin and Pete & Laura Dailey; beloved dog Mister Knot; as well as many other friends and family too many to name. He was predeceased by his father, paternal and maternal grandparents, as well as several aunts and uncles.
A memorial service will be held for Matt at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.
