Mary Ann Young

Mary Ann Young, age 87, passed away at the St. Johnsbury, Health and Rehabilitation Center, August 30, 2016, where she had resided for the past three years.

Mary Ann was born in Long Beach, California, on June 1, 1929, daughter to the late William and Ruth (Latrell) Baker.   She was raised and educated in Bakersfield, CA and met Floyd Winthrop Young who was stationed there. They married and shared almost 67 years of marriage when he died on April3, 2013.  Mary Ann was a homemaker and raised her family in Concord.  She was a past member of the Moose and long time member of the East Concord Methodist Church. Mary Ann enjoyed needlepoint and lots of camping trips with her family.

She is survived by 2 sons: Brian H. “Buzzy” Young and his wife, Sally, of E. Concord, Ronald I. Young and his wife, Nikki, of St. Johnsbury, a daughter-in-law: Rose Ann Young of Baltimore, MD, a brother: Richard Porterfield of TN, 2 sisters: Gloria Denney of TN, Maxine Harding of CA, 7 grandchildren: Harry, Jr., Trina, Aaron, Shawn, Raymond, Jason, Sr., and Dana, also 19 great-grandchildren, and many  great-great grandkids,  nieces and nephews.

Mary Ann was predeceased by her son: Harry L. Young, Sr. in 2014 and also 2 grandchildren: Brian S. Young & Kelly J. Bunnell a brother: Dean and 3 sisters: Bonnie, Leah and Barbara.

A Graveside Funeral Service will be held at 1PM on Sunday, September 4, 2016 at the St. Johnsbury Center Cemetery.  There will be no calling hours.
