Mary Dopp, 89, of St. Johnsbury, VT, passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2018, at her daughter’s home.
Mary was born in Highland Park, IL on July 25, 1928, to Iver and Mildred (Sidney) Iverson. She was raised and educated in local schools. In 1947, she married Everett R. Dopp and they shared 47 years together until Everett’s death in 1994. Mary spent her life as a homemaker, caring for her home and family.
Mary enjoyed knitting for family and friends and loved baseball especially the New York Yankees. She was a member of the Moose Chapter #1021 for 46 years serving as Senior Regent and Recorder. She also received the College of Regents Degree, Star Recorder Degree, and Academy of Friendship Degree. Mary was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary, 793.
Mary is survived by 3 sons: Ernest Dopp and wife, Diane, of Bellflower, CA, James Dopp and wife, Rhonda, of Valdosta, GA, and Everett Dopp of St. Johnsbury; 3 daughters: Betty Stewart of St. Johnsbury, Cathy Handy and husband, Mark, of St. Johnsbury, and Carol Hale and husband, Jeffery, of Danville ; A half-brother, Sydney Young of South Carolina and step-sister Betty Haskins of California; 10 Grandchildren and 7 Great-Grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents: Iver Olaf Iverson and Mildred Sidney Young; her stepfather: Glen Young; a daughter: Glenna Rainey; infant son: Roby Dopp; and her sister Catherine Emery and brothers William Iverson and Ike Iverson.
A Celebration of Life and Remembrance Service will take place on Friday, June 8, 2018, 4PM, at the Moose Club, 2388 Portland Street in St. Johnsbury, VT.
