Marion Somers

Marion Ruth (Tuzo) Somers, age 83, died April 6, 2019 following a long decline in her health.

Born in East Orange, NJ, July 10, 1935, she was daughter of the late George and Ruth (Hardy) Tuzo. She attended Barrington Bible College in Providence RI. She married Hezzie Bailey Somers on October 11, 1958 and together they shared 60 wonderful years. She served on the board of Vermont Farm Bureau, was an active 4-H leader, as well as with W.I.F.E. (Woman Involved in Farm Economics). Marion was an active member of the Union Baptist Church where she taught school at the former Christian School for several years along with serving in the Prison Ministries, Celebrate Recovery, Covered Bridge, and Operation Christmas Child (the Shoe Box ministry). She was also involved in the West Barnet Church Women’s Fellowship.

She is survived by her beloved husband Hezzie of Barnet, VT, children: Diane (Somers, Papaleo) Cockrell (Rodney) of Rochester, NY, Brian Somers (Kathy) of Barnet, VT, Christopher Somers (Trish) of Lebanon, OH, Jennifer (Somers) Duncan (Clark) of Barnet, VT, sister-in -law Carol Tuzo of Charleston, SC, 17 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews

She is predeceased by her brother Larry Tuzo and one son-in-law Peter Papaleo.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at the Union Baptist Church 532 US Rt 5 Waterford VT 05819 with Pastor Clifton Bullock officiating.
