Marilyn Lois Whitcher, 90, of Concord Avenue in St. Johnsbury, VT, died on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital.
Marilyn was born at home in Glenn, NH on July 3, 1934, to Walter and Pearl (Towle) Locke. She shared 52 years with her husband, David Whitcher Sr, until his death in 2006. In 1961, the couple moved to St. Johnsbury. During her working years, Marilyn graced St. Johnsbury Trucking doing clerical work, IGA, Burndys, Portland Street School as a cook, and did cleaning at WTWN (now WSTJ) and Citizen’s Bank.
In her younger years, Marilyn enjoyed dancing. Later on, she liked jigsaw puzzles, word searches, and bowling. She loved going to Bingo with her many friends, especially RuthAnn Cole, and enjoyed family outings. Most of all, Marilyn loved her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her 4 sons: Walter Whitcher of Richmond, TX, Warren of Waterford, VT, David Jr. of Houston, TX, and Donald of St. Johnsbury; a sister: Merlene Hatch of Madison, NH; and 3 grandchildren: Nicholas Whitcher of Houston, TX, Brandon Whitcher of Winter Park, FL, and Macie Whitcher of Richmond, TX.
She was predeceased by her husband: David Whitcher, Sr; siblings: Mildred Kelly and Maxine Othot; and a daughter-in-law: Tonya Stebelus Whitcher.
