Marilla Elder, of Danville, VT passed away at home early Monday, October 17, 2022, after a brief illness. She was born in St. Johnsbury, Vermont on September 17, 1944 and was predeceased by her parents, Alden V. Vance and Dorothy M. Vance (Shores).
Marilla was raised and educated in Danville graduating high school with the Class of 1962. When the kids were older, she waitressed at Brickett’s Diner, worked in the office at Aldrich Formica in Waterford, prepared sandwiches at Eddie’s Bakery and for over 15 years making floral arrangements at Artistic Garden.
She is survived by her two sons: Lawrence Black, Danville, and Patrick Black, Danville, and his wife Roraima Travat.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no viewing or formal funeral service. There will be a short non-denominational committal at the Danville Cemetery at 2PM on Sunday, October 23, 2022.
In lieu of flowers, friends are encouraged to make donations to Norris Cotton Cancer Center, 1 Medical Center Drive, Lebanon, NH 03756 or Caledonia Home Health and Hospice, 121 Sherman Dr., St. Johnsbury, VT 05819.
