Marie Fitchett

Marie Florence Fitchett, 77, of Wild Leek Lane in Barnet passed away on Monday, June 17, 2019 at her home.

Marie was born on March 23, 1942 in St. Johnsbury, VT, daughter to Earl and Helen (Houley) Bonnett.  She was raised and educated in St. Johnsbury, and on May 7, 1960, she married Wesley John Fitchett and shared 51 years with him until his death in 2012.  Marie worked at Sunset Home for many years until her retirement in 2004 due to health issues, for 19 years as housekeeper, 17 years as part time cook, and another 2 years as full time cook.  She joined the Country Club Homemakers of East Barnet in 1982.  Marie was an avid reader all her life, enjoyed embroidery and was quite intricate in her pieces.  She was well known in the neighborhood for her baking of cookies and sweets over the years.  Throughout her life she always had pets and loved them dearly.  She actively participated at the Riverside program in Lyndonville and made many friends there.

Survivors include her daughter: Cindy Lessard of Portland, ME; a grandson: Jordan Lessard, brother-in-law: Steve Fitchett and wife, Valerie, of Whitefield, NH, nieces: Sharon Duffy (Mike) of Grafton, NH and Kelli Bradbury (Paul) of W. Stockbridge, MA.

Marie was predeceased by her husband: Wess Fitchett; her mother: Helen Bonnett; her father: Earl Bonnett; step-mother: Ruth Bonnett; and brother: Stanton George.

Services will be held at 12PM on Friday, June 21, 2019 at the Sayles Funeral Home, 525 Summer Street in St. Johnsbury. Visitation will be held from 10AM until 12 the hour of services. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery on RT 18 in Waterford, VT.
