Marcella Pond Lamotte
1941-2016
East St. Johnsbury, Vermont
Marcella Pond Lamotte, age 75, E. St. Johnsbury, passed away at her home surrounded by her family Tuesday evening, December 20, 2016.
Marcella was born on June 19, 1941, in Lunenburg, VT, daughter to Derwood and Celia Marie (Wood) Pond. She was raised in Lunenburg and married Rodney L. Lamotte on October 18, 1958. They made their home in East St. Johnsbury where she and Rod owned Rod’s Used Cars. She enjoyed running the business with him over the years and also found the time to run her own tack shop which drew from her love of horses. She was also the innkeeper at the Echo Ledge Farm Inn for several years which she very much enjoyed. Every morning at 6AM for many years she would be found at the Mooselook Restaurant with Rod for breakfast. Marcella was a faithful member of Corpus Christi Parish, and a favorite place to be for her was with the family at camp in Guildhall. By and large her biggest loves were her kids, grand and great-grandkids.
Every Thursday was “Grammy Day” where the grand and great-grandkids would come over for lunch, and if you had not heard of “Grammy Day” then you obviously missed out.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Rod Lamotte of E. St. Johnsbury, her 2 sons: Tracy Lamotte and wife, Anita, of Sheffield, VT, Mitchel Lamotte and wife, Kathy, of Beaverton, OR, 2 daughters: Nicole Wilson and husband, Shilo, of E. St. Johnsbury, Tina Hahr of Passumpsic, VT, her brother: Dale Pond and wife, Midge, of Lunenburg, VT, 21 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her aunt Anne Woods, of E. St. Johnsbury who had been caring for, and visiting her daily for the past few weeks, which was a great comfort to Marcella, Rod, and all the children and deeply appreciated. She was pre-deceased by her parents and her brother: James Pond.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11AM on Friday, December 30, 2016 at St. John’s Church on Winter Street in St. Johnsbury with the Rev. Bernard Gaudreau as celebrant. Burial will take place in the springtime at the Grove Cemetery in E. St. Johnsbury.
