Mae C. Shatney, age 80, of Brown Farm Road, passed away at St. Johnsbury Health & Rehabilitation Center, Sunday night, September 25, 2016.

Mae was born in St. Johnsbury, VT., on June 13, 1936, daughter to the late John and Eleanor (Douglas) Sanborn. She grew up in St. Johnsbury and married Frank Ruggles in 1953, who died in 1955. She remarried in 1956 to Albion Shatney sharing 39 years together when he passed in 1995. Mae was employed with Fairbanks Scales for 28 years, enjoyed playing bingo and going for rides looking at wildlife and loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughter Donna Therrien (Dale) of Sheffield, VT and Dunedin, FL, a brother: Maurice Sanborn (Bessie) of Newark, VT, a sister: Rae Reed (Ron) of N. Haverhill, NH, a brother-in- law: Reg Shatney (Claire) of Lyndonville, three sisters-in-law: Helena Ewen (Dale) of Concord, VT, Audrey Downey (Jake) of E. Burke, VT, Evelyn McBey of Newport, VT, two grandchildren: Timothy Therrien (Ginger), Heather McGinnis(Gary), and four great-grandchildren: Zachary &; Lilly Therrien, Cale &; Gavin McGinnis, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by daughter Cindy Shatney in 2015.

A Graveside Service will take place at 1PM on Sunday, October 9, 2016 the Grove Cemetery in E. St. Johnsbury. There will be no calling hours.

Many thanks to the staff at St. Johnsbury Health & Rehabilitation Center for the wonderful care Mae received for the nearly four months she was there. Memorial Donations may be made in her name to St. Johnsbury Health & Rehabilitation Center, 1248 Hospital Drive, St. Johnsbury, VT 05819.
