Lucille Morehouse

July 24, 1923 — November 3, 2017

Lucille Morehouse of Concord passed away on Friday evening, Nov. 3, 2017 at the age of 94.  She had resided at the St. Johnsbury Health & Rehab Center for the past year and a half.

She was born on July 24, 1923 in Concord, the daughter of Henry and Alberta (St. Pierre) Robillard.  Her husband of seventy years, Richard ‘Dick’ Morehouse, passed on Nov. 11, 2010.  She was also predeceased by two sons, Richard and Harry Morehouse, a granddaughter Wanda Cota, four brothers Paul, Roland, Lambert and Homer Robillard, and a sister Jeannette Mahoney.

Lucille worked hard on farms all her life including when her husband went to war during WWII.  She also worked at the paper mill in Gilman during the war and later at Maple Grove. Lucille loved to take her grandchildren fishing and also loved to hunt. She was a lunch lady at the Concord school and took care of a lot of older people in Concord.  In her later years she loved going to the Dickson Gymnasium and attending church at Concord Community Church.   Her family enjoys reflecting on how she made the best donuts and other memories like the trip she and a friend took to Alaska in the 1980’s.

She is survived by son John Morehouse of Concord; eight of her nine grandchildren: Ceylon Morehouse, Brett Morehouse, Becky MacDonald, Brooke Demers, Ben Morehouse, Mary White, Robert Morehouse, and Sarah Gass; her great-grandchildren and a few great-great-grandchildren; her sister Priscilla Beckloff; her husband’s sister Dottie Morton;  two daughters-in-law Marilea Morehouse and Phyllis Morehouse; nieces and nephews and the extended Morehouse family.

Funeral services will be held in Concord this Wednesday, Nov. 8, at 1 p.m. at the Concord Community Church with Pastor Joshua Abetti officiating.  Burial will follow at the Concord Cemetery. Prior to the service on Wednesday, visiting hours will be held at the Sayles Funeral Home from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.  Anyone wishing to stop by to pay their respects is welcome.
