Lorraine Ramsay
June 3, 1937 — July 1, 2016
Lorraine S. Ramsay, age 79, of Island Pond, VT, passed away peacefully Friday morning July 1, 2016, at the Pines Rehabilitation and Health Center in Lyndonville, VT.
Lorraine was born in North Troy, Vermont, on June 3, 1937, daughter to the late DeForrest and Irene (Bushy) Lumbra.
She was raised and educated in North Stratford moving there in 1946. At the age of 14 Lorraine began working at Brown Company plywood mill in North Stratford.
She married to Harold Walter Ramsay, Sr. and shared 29 years together.
She was a homemaker and farmer’s wife, was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with her grand children
She is survived by 4 children: Deborah Hawkins of Island Pond, David Ramsay of Dalton, NH, Timothy Ramsay of Brunswick, VT, Lori Colebanks also of Brunswick, 5 siblings: Joanne Gonya of Island Pond, Laverna Lumbra of Brattleboro, Deforrest “Sonny” Lumbra of Holland, Gloria Lumbra and Sharon Siggins both of Brattleboro, 12 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a son: Harold “Butch” Ramsay, Jr. and a brother Bradley Lumbra.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held to celebrate and reflect on her life and share her stories. This will be held at 1PM on Saturday, July 23, 2016, at Tim’s home, 953 VT RT 102 in Brunswick, VT.
