Lorraine Racine

Waterford, VT: Lorraine Irene Racine, age 81, of Duck Pond Road, Waterford, VT passed away peacefully at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital, Monday night, September 25, 2017, following a short period of declining health.

Lorraine was born in North Troy, VT, on May 3, 1936.  She grew up in Concord, VT and graduated with the Class of 1954 from Concord High School.  On November 2, 1963, she married Ernest Racine and they shared 33 years together until his passing in 1996.  She was employed by Citizens Savings Bank  for over 40 years and retired in 1998. In her retirement, Lorraine worked with the Probate Court helping many others that were in need.  She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church and was active in the St. Johnsbury VFW Ladies Auxiliary serving as Treasurer for many years.  Lorraine enjoyed bingo, bowling and especially her grandchildren.  She loved to attend their sporting events and was always interested in their activities.

She is survived by her three children: Jayne Belanger and husband, Van-George, of Monroe, NH, Jeffrey Racine and wife, Maria, of Waterford, Laurie Johnson and husband, PJ, of Waterford, her 9 grandchildren: Vanessa & Josh Barnett of Franklin, TN, Theresa & Dan Heslin of Millis, MA, Anna-Lisa & Casey Leithead of Kirby, VT, Van-Ryan Belanger of Lawrence, KS, Stephanie & Richard Gutzmann of West Burke, Tony Kacprzyski of St. Johnsbury, Meghan Chernovetz and fiancé, Ryan Goodwin, of West Burke, Jake Johnson and Kyle Johnson both of Waterford.

She is also predeceased by her mother Mabel (Westover) Houghton, her step-father Ralph Houghton, and her sisters Eleanor Lund and Agnes Anderson.

Friends may call on the family from 4:00 p.m. until the start of  a Prayer Service led by Fr. Bernard Gaudreau at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, September 29, 2017 at the Sayles Funeral Home, 525 Summer Street in St. Johnsbury.

Burial will take place privately at the Passumpsic Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
